asked by: a guest Will this work with a SRAM X 5/7 series derailleur? Look to covert MTB from 7 to 9 speed.
Do you have to use a SRAM cassette or will any set work?
A.
anwered by: canteau Yes, the X7 and X0 derailleurs have the same pull ratio. You can use any Shimano/SRAM compatible 9-speed cassette.

asked by: a guest Will these shifters work with your SRAM X5 - 9 speed rear derailleurs? I'm rebuilding an old Shimano set up and planning to move from freewheel to a hub. Entering the 1990's. Plan to go from 7 to 9 speed and this combo seems simple and rugged. I'll have a shop do the hub and make it all work. Wanting to make sure these two critical bits play well together. Thanks as always for the help

asked by: a guest Want to replace my Sram X-9 shifters on my Rans long wheelbase 'bent. My rear derailleur is Sram X-7. I understand rear cable may need to be replaced with longer one but is the XO compatible with my rear derailleur?
A.
anwered by: canteau Yes, the X7 and X0 derailleurs have the same pull ratio, however like you said you will need a longer cable for use with a recumbent.

asked by: a guest The grips that come with the set are not the free floating lock type, correct? Can I buy the locking set and will they spin freely with the shifters when locked in?
A.
anwered by: canteau 9-speed XO GripShift does not use locking grips like the later 10/11/12-speed versions and is secured to the handlebar with a setscrew.
You can use any shorter length grip with these, lock-on or not.

asked by: a guest Will these twist shifters work with Shimano XT front and rear derailleurs?
A.
anwered by: a guest These shifters will not work with Shimano rear derailleurs. The rear shifter only works with SRAM ESP rear derailleurs. The front shifter will work with pretty much any front derailleur.

I took the advice of the previous rewiewers and tried a set of these XO-twisters. I also upgraded to XO rear deraileur to complete the package. The setup ROCKS! This is the fastest most consistent shifting I have ever owned! Up, down, 1-2 or 5 gears at a time right now no misses every time. With the front twist, you can trim the front deraileur and get all 9 gears in all three front chain rings. Very nice! I have yet to be disappointed with anything I've purchased that has Sram's name on it.
