Any local shop would be happy to do the switch. You can also buy a 15mm pedal wrench and take the pedals off yourself. Keep in mind that the left pedal is reverse threaded.

Any Mountain bike specific shoe will work great for these shoes. If you are looking for specific brands, we really like Shimano and Sidi Shoes.

I have used the Time Atac Alium's for 4 years and they have been rock solid. They are definitely not the lightest pedals on the market, but are very reliable.

I wanted a inexpensive way to use my MTB shoes on my road bike. I find it hard to walk in the bars with my road bike shoes so I switched over to Time ATAC which has made it safer for me to walk through the bars and not slip on penuts and spilled beer. So I would say they are user frendly and a safer alternative to what I previously had on the bike. They are easy to get into even on the way home from the bar. I like the float in the pedals it gives me a more natural feel on the bike while still giving me the connection to power up. I have also made it home without shoes on, don't ask me how that happend but I was still able to make it home with relatively little discomfort.

My Time Alium pedals have served me very well. They withstand whatever I can throw at them, whether mud, water, downed trees, etc. Every once in a while I'll miss a clip-in the first time, but that's normal, and the pedals are forgiving that way.

Relatively inexspensive, durable, easy to engage/dis-engage, great in muddy conditions -- can't go wrong with Atac's - I have them on all of my bikes now.
