RenderdogHandy little tool is quick and easy to use, a tad pricey.

jpsiukfabulous tool. It takes the guess work out of assessing a chain's wear.

ema...@gm...l.comGot this because I destroyed a cassette last year with a worn chain. Came in the mail, checked the chain and it was time for a new one so I swapped it out. What a difference a new chain makes in shifting. Simple tool saved me from ripping up another cassette and paid for itself in one day.

A GuestAllows verification of chain stretch percentage, as opposed to a standard drop-in gauge.

silverphIt works. Although not as accurate (if not used correctly) as it has a moving part but it was either this or spend more money for a better one.
Let me explain, you need to insert two pins into the chain then move the tool until it is snug to get an accurate reading. If you do it too much or too little though, it might not be accurate. Not an insert, drop, and done like the more expensive tools.
But it works! Good enough for me and enough to change to buy more gear. :)

A GuestNow that I'm biking more, and the shop told me I wore out a chain... Previously thinking from old school bike repairing back in the day that chains only needed to be replaced when rusted tight or broken... I was really interested to know not just if it was stretched, but by how much. This tool does that, and does it well. Seems accurate. It seems durable, but not so much that you shouldn't put it in a safe place between uses. (I think this may still be one of the tools that Park makes in the USA, but I can't recall. I try to help support jobs in the USA when I can, but it is hard to tell as some companies try to keep the cache like calling things PARK USA while having some of the products made other places in the fine print.)

con...@ve...n.netThis makes the question of when to change your chain go away. It is so easy to use and not too expensive. I was looking at others but this tool gets rid of any error. Put in the pins of chain set at zero apply moderate to light pressure and if it goes past .75 it is time to change!! Too Easy

terryericksonGreat chain checking tool! This is the 2nd one of these I've bought now - both for the same reason. About 5 years ago I wrecked my rear cassette and front sprockets from not replacing my chain in time. Since I got the tool, I now know exactly when my chain needs replacing before its too late!
My girlfriend did the same thing last week, but luckily just did in her cassette. She'd been using my Park CC-2 Chain Checker, but often forgets. Now she has her own :-)
This tool can save you some money and grief. Highly recommended!
