harlowwI've been using Power Grips for years and swear by them. They are simply the best solution for all around riding from trails to city streets.

A GuestI'm not saying clipless pedals don't have their uses...but unless I'm entering a very serious competition, I'll opt for PowerGrips every time. I've used on road & mountain bikes, & everything in between. Both performance & safety are superior to clips/cages. Pedaling efficiency probably approaches clipped-in...but I love the flexibility of wearing normal shoes so I can walk or hike. If you've never tried them, risk the $20...you'll probably be converted, as I was.

A GuestI adore these grips! I won't spend extra money for shoes for clipless pedals and these grips let me wear weather/attitude dependent shoes and give me POWER when I want it and keep my feet where i want them to stay! Easy installation too - tho the reflectors on the back of my pedals now have nowhere to live...... Love 'em !

rs.wrightNot a bad product. I got these to switch with my clipless pedals so I can hop on my bike and go down to the store. For long rides though I greatly prefer clipless. Overall though, the price is not bad, and they are better than standard platforms. The entry is a little tricky at first, but you get used to it.
I found it tougher to keep my cadence up on a medium ride (about 30 miles) with these. I was more comfortable pedalling slower and mashing hills, so at the end of the day my knees were shot. I am fitted for my specific clipless which I feel allow me to naturally track better. Regardless, these are great for short rides down to the local stores.

wrobertdavisThese add some security, especially for wet weather. They are an excellent match with MKS touring pedals.

A GuestPower Grips saved my road riding life. I was an MTBer and got a hybrid road bike (Specialized Sirrus Pro) after decades away from long-distance road riding. Like so many who chose Power Grips, I tried cages and clipless. The former wound up reviving plantars fasciitis in my heels and the latter locked my feet in too much and caused knee problems on top of the plantars (though I loved being clipped in and the Shimano XTR M980 pedals).
I stumbled upon Power Grips when I saw them in a pic of a roadbike on a bike blog (LovelyBicycle.com).
They are an elegantly simple solution and a worthy compromise to clipless. Unless your racing or the pain of being perceived as a weenie by your bike Nazi buddies surpasses the physical pain of your clipless pedals or cages, give The Grips a try.

fishwich2005When I was younger and poorer - commuting the sidewalks and streets of the University during the week, and touring the county roads and trails on the weekends, I had power grips on my bike. I didn't know any better, just that they were inexpensive and looked easier to get out of than a toe cage!
Well, when I got some money, I bought a more expensive bike with more respectable cages on them. They were hard to get into and even harder to get out of!!
Finally, on my most recent bike purchase (and most expensive), I went all out and splurged for the clip pedals and shoes. What misery....admittedly, I'm a not a serious cyclist, I don't compete. What I do do is enjoy riding 6 days a week. I could never adjust the clip/shoes properly so that I didn't have excruciating knee/ankle pain when i finished with a ride.
I finally got frustrated and googled "power-grips" (I had been told by several bike shops that they had been discontinued - as they were a passing gimmick). I was pleased to find that they were still available and still affordable.
I put them on my bike - and my knees/ankles rejoiced! They just fit me. And...as the info says, you can wear most any type of shoe, so long as your can adjust the length of the straps on your pedals. I have found them the easiest to get into/out of, of any clip/cage strap. AND...the latest versions are much easier to adjust!
May not look cool, you might get some ribbing for them, but your knees will love you for it.
