The Paul Components Neo-Retro brakes are a modern cantilever brake design for the demanding rider. Long arms stick straight out for maximum leverage, and the high straddle cable equals plenty of mud clearance. Bringing these tremendous stopping machines up to date are the v-brake style pads using spherical setting washers for easy set up and pad adjustments.
Compatible with short pull road or canti levers, these include Koolstop Thinline pads for consistant performance in the messiest 'cross courses. These also include all necessary hardware, including straddle wire and hanger.
Paul made these brakes with so much leverage, they ask us to make a few disclaimers about them, such as these brakes can over power thin tubed frames, and the arms stick out way more than typical cantis. For less than stout frames, or bikes carrying panniers or other clearance issues, check out Paul''s Touring Cantis.

Wow.
Yes they are expensive but they are also
easier to install and more tuneable (spring tension) then any other cantilever I've used (tektro cr720, tektro oryx, shimano xt). This is because the spring tension is adjusted within the brake assembly and you don't use the three holes on the brake mount.
Because you can dial in the spring tension you also get the exact kind of response you want.
I wish I could afford to put these on all my bikes!

These are the best brakes I have ever used. They install quickly and easily. The adjustments are a bit tricky to figure out (instructions are nonexistent), but once figured out, it is elegant and simple. They brake very well, with a minimum of noise, look great, and seem very sturdy.

Easy installation/adjustment, look great, are very stiff. Won't skid, but will stop better than the Tektro Oryx cantilevers that came with the bike. Can't beat the price.

Best canti's I've used so far. They've beaten out Tektro, Cane Creek, Shimano, etc.
Like any canti, a lot of the performance will be lost due to poor installation. Take the time to install them properly and you will be impressed at how well they stop your bike.
I've used them in dry, wet, mud, etc and they always stop. I've used them on a loaded touring bike and they still do a great job, even on descents. I'm no longer scared to ride in certain conditions due to soft/unpredictable brakes. As an added bonus, they look great.
If you don't mind spending the money, spring for the Paul Moon Unit's to give them some extra bling.
I specified Touring, Cyclocross and Commuting under Works For.
While they do work great for all of the above, they are designed for performance over everything else.
The wide profile may stick out to far for some people that use them for commuting or touring.
I use them for all three and make due just fine but if need be, you may want to consider the Touring Canti or Motolite if you're looking for a smaller profile.

These are seriously the best canti brakes, period. Stupid amounts of stopping power, and really easy to fine tune. Plus they come with kool-stop brake pads. The best of the best.

I don't have any experience with other cantilever brakes, so these may be the best ones out there, but they are not impressive compared with my Ultegra caliper brakes on my road bike. But if you want Paul's Neo Retro brakes for your ride, this is an economical place to buy them.
