Marathon Plus 700 x 32C, Touring Tire

These are by far the best commuter/touring tire I've ever used and I'm hooked for life. They last me over a year with a daily 6 mile round-trip commute. The only time I've gotten a flat is when I'm too lazy to switch out a well-worn tire. They are grippy in the rain and worth the $$$.

I am on my second pair, and I can't imagine buying a different tire. I road a loaded (read >60lbs) tour along the northern tier with these and had three flats. The first after 2000 miles was an unlucky 3-in nail that punctured through the top and the side wall (tire held up despite the sidewall puncture). The second and third were around 1000 miles later, and these were 1 inch glass shards. There were certainly lots of other sharp pieces of debris that these repelled like champs. Everyone else I rode with had between 6 and 15 flats, and they were only riding 1200 miles of my 4200 mile tour. If you want a dependable tire, with reflectors and a wonderful ride, the Schwalbe Marathon Plus is it.

I ride 5k per year. After 3 years (15,000 miles) the blue foam is finally showing through and I am replacing the rear tire - front still has plenty of tread. I first tried them because I was getting chronic flats. The Marathon Plus definitely cured that. I have gotten 5 flats in the entire life of the tire - about 1 ever 3k miles. Compare that to every 100 miles before these miracles. Only downside: Pretty heavy. But if you are commuting or training, these are the best you'll find.
