Designed to bring the most power and best modulation to be had in a rim brake to the cyclocross market, TRPs CX series brakes are innovators that have gained a devoted following of racers. Whereas the CX9s are designed for the cable pull ratio of Shimano levers, the CX8.4s deliver optimal performance to those using SRAM and Campagnolo road shift/brake levers. Barrel adjusters make the CX8.4s a cinch to adjust on the fly, while CNCd TT6 arms and titanium hardware keep the weight in check.
SRAM and Campy users, it's time to discover the kind of braking performance that can be had from mini-v brakes with TRP''s CX8.4s.

stevenrparkThese are terrific, even with the stock pads. As a long time cantilever user, installing mini-v's was relatively effortless. The brake is nicely made with thoughtful details, like an inline cable adjuster on the noodle.
The brakes are powerful, such that I had to unlearn the super grab I used to use for cantilevers. A light grip is all that is need for the mini-Vs to work.
The only drawback is that these may not have enough clearance for very large tires (50 ), but that's still pretty decent.

dunnp2Got these for my cross bike. It's incredible how much better they are than the Tektro mini-v brakes I had. I took a long time to pony up the cash to buy these, and I'd buy them again in a heartbeat after using them. I'm sure the pads are much better, explaining the powerful braking, but these are much easier to set up and maintain. They're just so much less finicky.

SenebI run Campagnolo on my CX bike, and after trying basic cantilevers and expensive Paul Comp Neo Retro brakes, I found these. I was never happy or felt safe with the cantis or Pauls, but these have amazing stopping power for a CX brake. The slightly shorter arm of the CX8.4 works better for Campy (and supposedly Sram) than the TRP CX9. Even the stock pads are good. I haven't used them in the mud yet, but the clearance looks pretty good with 32c cross tires. There are less expensive options, but these are well built, have nice titanium hardware, and stop really well.
