When I purchased my brand new Salsa Vaya 3, I had my LBS install the Minimalist rack and the Wanderlust rack. Not even 20 miles on the bike, the Minimalist rack some how came unattached from the fork while out riding (don't know what happened because it happened fast). The rack wasn't even used yet. Long story short, the rack fell on the moving wheel, yanked one of the rods off the fork, and wacked the fork and frame a few times causing some bad chips. it was a good think that it got caught between the wheel and the fork close to the hub in such a way that the wheel was still able to move, though it took out a few spokes and murdered my tire. I still have the mangled rack, unfortunately, it wasn't the one covered under the recall, so I'm pretty much on my own.
