klausmorgan1I put these on a dedicated touring frame (Surly Long Haul Trucker) and I wouldn't call it a difficult installation, but certainly not an easy one, which is not encouraging since Surly is notable for ease of installation of new components in general. Once I got them on, though, I has been a solid rack, no complaints.

michael9793Overall a nice rack design, not a complex installation but no instructions included - just a web URL to look up?!
The "U" bolt that slides around the frame was far too long for my road bike fork, and no spacers were included! So I had to hacksaw down the bolt and file the threads smooth to re-thread the nuts on. No washers were included to place between the nuts and rack, so to prevent scratching the finish I had to purchase those at a hardware store.
I typically like Axiom's products, but this one I felt neutral about - we'll see how it holds up after two months of use.

A GuestMuch like the other reviewer, the mounting on my Miyata 1000 touring bike required extra washers and spacers, and was difficult at best. Now that it is on, it seems solid, but the acid test will be my Pacific Coast touring ride next month.

fmaysonThese things are tricky to install. I had to saw down the threads on the u-bolts significantly for it to tighten correctly on my 1" 700c road fork.
That said, they do seem pretty solid once they're actually on, handling light to moderate loads. I wouldn't push the limits (30 lbs/side) on them for more than a short ride.
Biggest Pro: Low profile and lightweight, doesn't hamper everyday use of the bike
Biggest Con: Once Installed...None yet

jktremaineThese racks look solid, and seem like they would work great. But, they just do not want to fit on my Jamis Aurora. The mounting brackets do not match up with the mid-fork hard point, so you have to use the hardware that comes with the rack. I tried putting them on my friend's Surly LHT, and the problem persisted, but they were more level. Also incompatible with a Surly Troll.
Using the hardware provided, I can easily get the racks to fit. The problem is that with the U-bolt adjusted as far back as possible, the rack still tilts back at a high angle. The rear of the rack is 2" lower than the front. The angle is great enough that I hesitate to run full loaded panniers. They could work, but when there are other options on the market that mount and work better, I'd rather just pay more.

jsmacdonaldSeems like a good value rack, but I had to return it. This is designed to attach to the boss at the 3 o' clock/9 o' clock position on your dropouts. On touring forks, if you are running fenders, that is generally the fender boss. The rack boss being the one at the 12 o' clock position. I suppose you could double up on the fender boss, or mount the skewer through it like Alan suggests, but I would rather find a rack that will mount to the bosses on my fork.
