I use these with Avid BB7 Mountain bike brakes (not the road version) on my Touring/MonsterCross bike. They work very well and are very comfy. Nice progressive pull, plenty of power, using compressionless housing. You will want compressionless housing...

So much better than old school road brakes. I am running them with mtb v-brakes and they make it so much easier to set them up right. The hoods have a great feel and the levers are set up L and R and have a really good feel and reach to the levers.
