My steerer tube is 1 1/4" OD does this fit over it and reduce it to 1 1/8"? It's for a vertical steerer tube on a stand up scooter that I can cut down to maintain same height if so...... thanks

This steerer tube extender is designed specifically for 1-1/8" steerer tubes and is not compatible with 1-1/4" forks.

The current Trek 520 uses an 1-1/8" steerer tube, but the Trek 520 has been made for years with the original ones being 1" threaded.

Yes, you can cut this extension down the the correct length just like a steertube. Just make sure the top of the extension is no more than 1-2mm below the top of the stem.

Needed a more upright riding position but did not want to spend more to buy a new fork when the one had was nearly perfect. This thing was a life saver and doesn't look nearly as bad as you would think. If you are all about aesthetic and style with your bike this might not be for you but if you just want to be able to ride your bike while maybe looking silly to some than this is it. Would recommend it to anyone. I have heard some say they are not as strong and dependable as direct stem to steerer tube but I call B.S. This thing is rock solid and just as strong as it was before I added it.

Bought a cyclocross bike to convert into my new commuter because I wanted a fast "road bike" frame but with disk brakes and "T" handle bars. After a while decided that the ride posture in the CX frame was still too much in the lowered racing profile for commuting/touring comfort. This Steerer Tube Extender is exactly the easy 5 minute solution I needed - the handle bars are now level with the seat and body parts are much happier(!). I agree with "apatz57" - this is a quality made part: the machining is clean & accurate with out a burr anywhere, the anodized finish is faultless, and all material thicknesses are beefy enough to inspire confidence in its strength. Sure, when I first installed it, the side view of the bike looked different from normal, but it grows on you and I don't really notice it much anymore except for being more comfortable while riding now. If you want a quick fix to get a better upright riding position with no worries about strength, this is it.

Finally found the elusive height for my handlebars. This is the best addition to my bike that I have made and it makes riding a dream. No more sore neck and shoulders. Buy one, you won't be disappointed! Plus I think it looks great
