The difference is the width of the handlebar. These will most likely not work with your vintage Schwinn unless you are using a modern stem with a 31.8mm handlebar clamp.

I bought this product for my gravel race bike. Really like the hand positions whether it is climbing hills or bombing downhill there is position that keeps you in control.
