The lever rotates to ding the bell as opposed to more basic bells that the piece is just on a spring. Should be more durable.

I originally ordered this as an extra - My order total was a couple bucks away from free shipping, and I've been meaning to buy a bell for a while to put on my mountain bike. This bell works great, with a clear loud double ring. And, it's adjustable and easy to use.
