anonymousI built a custom Jagwire bleed syringe for Shimano brakes using Jagwire components because I don’t require a full service brake bleed kit.
The Jagwire syringes are excellent and rebuildable. I took a chance and bought the Jagwire 1/4 turn valves when they were on special to experiment. The 1/4 turn valve has a compression style plastic retaining nut with a short poly tube (metal fitting on other end) that I was interested in experimenting with.
I cut the poly line and metal fitting off the 1/4 turn valve and used the much longer Shimano Pro bleed system 4mm ID line with the excellent little metal caliper bleed nipple fitting.
Note: you need to use boiling water / heat the poly line to get it to fit over the 1/4 turn valve nipple. You also need to use the plastic retaining nut for the hose to 1/4 turn valve connection for 4mm tube retention.
Now I have a simple pro level Shimano brake bleeding set-up using only what I need and I saved a few bucks over buying a large full service brake kit in a box with components I wouldn’t use.
I took a chance experimenting and it worked out perfect
