asked by: a guest Do these work well on the Avid shorty 4's?
A.
anwered by: canteau Yes they should work fine on Avid Shorty 4's and Shorty 6's. Just remember the order in which the spacers are set up to ensure proper function.

These are nice pads in comparison to the OEM on the old model Avid Shorty 6. They are road brake size so you can upgrade to carbon brake pads. The toe-in adjustment is much more minimal than the other makes, keeping them light.
The only problem is with the front wheel, brake and fork clearance. When I remove the straddle cable from the front brakes to remove the wheel, there is not enough space to get the wheel out without a struggle. Also, about 5mm of toe in adjustment was set to relieve front wheel chatter.
Summed up: Good pads. Works better on some CX brake types than others. Will recommend product.
Yes, I would recomend this to a friend.

Do not use these for regular style canti brakes: Pauls, IRD Cafams, Dia Comp, etc. Description says works with most Shimano brakes. what is most? I bought these for Dia Compe 980 brakes, easiest cantis to set up. Posts are too short to use. They do not extend enough to get the correct pad/rim contact angle. WTF does "most shimano brakes?" Would fit side pull brakes, not cantis. BS description.
Great, simple pad holders. A road-size pad designed to work anywhere a V-brake pad fits, but also great for use with older caliper brakes.
The socket head nut interferes with the quick release on some calipers, but you can replace it with a conventional nut in this case.
Included pad media are gimmicky 3-compound affairs, but work well enough. For best braking performance in all conditions, replace the media with all-salmon pads, which are the best around.
