How long is the tapered section? Like the distance from where the 22.2 mm diameter starts to enlarge, to where it's reduced back to 22.2 mm. Basically to know how much space there is for cockpit components.

Use a pipe cutter, available at a hardware store for about 5 bucks. It spins around and cleanly cuts through as you tighten the tool every few revolutions.
