asked by: a guest How can I tell if these bars will fit with my stem?
A.
anwered by: canteau Generally your existing handlebar will be stamped with the size of the clamp. You can also use calipers to measure the clamp area. If will be one of the following sizes 22.2mm (7/8"), 25.4mm (1"), 26.0 (1.023") or 31.8mm (1-1/8").
These handlebars use a stem with a 26.0mm clamp.

asked by: a guest Should I consider a shorter stem when changing from drop bars?
A.
anwered by: bykerouac Most likely your current stem setup will put your hold too far and low for this handlebar. Consider getting a stem that is short and places the bar higher, such as a Nitto Dirtdrop stem.

asked by: a guest Will these work with both road levers and Shimano bar-end shifters?
A.
anwered by: beartrap Yes. They accept all road bike fittings, including bar end shifter and brake levers. One thing to note, if you use non-aero brake levers, you wind up with preferable cable routing.
A.
anwered by: bhardy They will work with both. It would be very difficult to use these bars with STI levers, but bar end shifters work great.

Tired of looking at the ground? Get a riser quill and a moustache bar and see the world. I've been maintaining, upgrading and riding my Raleigh for many years - 35. When it isn't on the road, it's on a turbotrainer. Found myself constantly moving on the drop bars hunting for an elusive comfortable spot. Decided it was time for a change. You're going to need a tall stem. I went for a Nitto Tecnomic 225mm tall, and the smallest forward length 70mm. I'm all limbs - 25" frame and my seat is extended to 200mm above the top tube. 190mm of stem put the bar at seat height, and I love it here. I like the looks of the Tecnomic quill better than the Dirt Drop - you might like the other. The bar looks really cool with my Zeus brakes turned sideways and a leather wrap. From the first time I sat on the bike to work out brake position, I giggled - I love the feel of this bar and this riding position. It also looks fantastic. Turn your goose into a swan.
I like mine. For people who can't get them high enough, I suggest you mount them upside down (the ends higher than the middle). It looks a little odd at first, but does the job. I've had mine like that so long, I forget they usually mount the other way around.
I love the comfort of these and the numerous hand positions gained.
I bought these mustache bars originally for a touring style bike, as I really didn't want to use drop bars any longer. However, the frame on that bicycle is already a bit of a stretch for me, so they didn't work out as I'd anticipated. I did, however, find them to work exceptionally well on my city bicycle. They provide a couple of hand positions that are functional to use, and were the perfect fit for an unintended purpose. As others have said, you want to be sure you can get them up high enough, or it will feel strange I would think for most people. Otherwise, they didn't require any real adjustment, and I find that they look good too!
The Moustache Bars are growing on me. I can't get them up a high as I'd like, due to the height limit of my Nitto Technomic stem (and the Technomic can go quite high), but they offer a few different hand positions. Nice change of pace from the Nitto Noodles on my other bike.
