The Park Tool TM-1 Spoke Tension Meter is an essential tool for achieving that proper tension, and belongs on the workbench of anyone building or truing wheels, diagnosing wheel problems, or assembling new bikes. The reading of the TM-1 can be used to help estimate the relative tension of a wheel's spokes, identifying areas with high or low tension. Using the included printed table or the Park Tool Wheel Tension App, this measurement can be converted to kilograms-force in order to calculate the overall tension of a wheel and ensure that it is at the proper level. The Wheel Tension App also features interactive tools to help visualize and analyze a variety of data based on the TM-1''s readings.
- Accurately measures the following spoke materials: steel (round and bladed), aluminum (round and bladed)*, titanium (round and bladed)*, Spinergy PBO, and Mavic R2R carbon fiber
- *NOTE: conversion data only available for select sizes of aluminum and titanium spokes
- The TM-1 is made in the USA and is able to be completely rebuilt and recalibrated, for a lifetime of reliable use

mrk...@me...e.comThis is pretty much your only option at this price. You can get the DT Swiss but that's several hundred dollars. If you combine tuning spoke tension by ear (using relative pitch) with this tool, you get a proper spoke tension you can trust. It's very reassuring to know what tension your at, and this tool does just that. I only worry about durability, you can't just throw this tool into the parts box and expect it to last. If it gets banged up, it's probably not going to work. That's a simple solution, keep the box or get a container to store it in.

baumannI think you can't beat this tensiometer in terms of what you get for the money. I wanted something that gives me the baseline on how tight the spokes are, and for this this one is good enough. Precision is not very good, especially at higher tension, but that is due to the type of design. The tool itself is very well made and easy to use.

A GuestA great tool for the wrencher with everything else. I purchased this to check PBO spokes on a set of Spinergy wheels since Spinergy specifies using this tool if/when their wheels ever need truing. Simply put this lets you know (by measuring) what you think you know about proper spoke tension.

tomascondeI got this after I had already built my wheels using musical pitch to get aproximate spoke tension. This tool is easy to use and allowed me to verify that I had tensioned the spokes properly to begin with. On my next build I look forward to using this tool to check tensioning rather than straining my ears to listen for subtle pitch changes.

petehoukWell worth the money. Spend the money on the tensiometer before you buy the expensive truing stand.

A GuestIt's very simple to use and the chart is easy to read. It's a little noisy if you're using it after 11pm when your housemates are trying to sleep.

A GuestEasy to use. Teaches you what properly tensioned spokes should feel like. My wheels feel solid now.

smulderWhile there are extremely expensive spoke tension meters out there I'd still choose this one. I say this simply because it is, well, just simple. Other tension meters out there may get down to the half hair in precision, but in general I would say I can build just as good a wheel as someone who uses a fancy guage. And, with the Park TM-1 Tension Meter I can get around a wheel in less than a minute with this gauge and know that in general the spokes are where it says they are. It's so ergonomic that I almost forget I am using it while finishing the wheel builds here at the shop.
