Rock-N-Roll Gold lubricant is for both mountain and road bike use. The formulation goes deep down into the chain and traps any dirt. Then, with the energy of the chain freewheeling backwards, the dirt and grit floats to the surface so you can wipe it all off, leaving a new and clean application of lube inside the chain, where it's needed.

asked by: a guest I've been using Gold for years. What's the difference between Gold and Extreme?
A.
anwered by: canteau In the shop here in Michigan we typically recommend the the Gold as a Summer lube (dry/dusty conditions) and the Extreme as a Fall/Winter/Early Spring lube (Rain/Mud/Snow).
The Gold dries on the chain better than the Extreme which helps it shed dust but doesn't provide the wet weather protection that the Extreme offers.

I ordered some of this stuff on a whim a while back, and it took some trial and error to figure out that "shop towels" (the blue ones or similar) are the best way to clean the chain once you've lubed it, as RnR recommends you do. My current road drivetrain (including chain) is now 15 months old -- unbelievable! Make sure you wipe the chain down properly when you're done, and be sure to reapply frequently if you're using it in wet weather (where I still think it's the best option... wet weather just REQUIRES that you reapply lube). Doesn't spend its time forming an abrasive paste in my chain, so it's just lasting and lasting.
Decades of experience cycling and this is the best lube ever. Keeps my chain clean and everything working well. Chains even last longer. Requires more frequent attention than other lubes, but well worth it. Good to drink too!

This lube runs cleaner than a wax based product. The absolute dry was good , but the pink residue does stain. That's why I switched over to the "Gold".

Perfect Lube. Only dislike is that all RnR lubes need to be warmed up to use during the winter/cold months.. I run hot water over the bottle for 30 seconds, shake the bottle and it's ready to go...
Good stuff. Make sure to wipe off the excess lube. If you lube after your ride, it will be dry and ready to go the next day. I found that the drivetrain stays cleaner this way. I wipe down my bike after a ride anyway so i just apply the lube then. This has worked out well for me. For really wet conditions I tend to use other lubes. For normal daily rides R&R works good.
I've used Rock-N-Roll products for years. Their Gold is the best all-around. I've have and used Extreme for MTB and Absolute Dry for road and TT. For best results wipe off the chain with a clean rag or "paper towles". Then lube. Highly recommend this product..

After trying it several years ago, this is the only chain lube that I use on my Civia Hyland Hybrid. It runs smooth as glass and is truly an all weather lube.
When first applied the chain runs extremely smooth. After every ride you need to wipe the chain thoroughly. It is a dirt magnet. I have used Dumonde for three years and it is a much cleaner product.
