The SR Suntour XCT fork will most likely work with your Nishiki, however, if possible bring the bike by and we can make 100% sure.

It would depend on the axle to crown measurement of your stock fork vs this fork. Using a fork that is too long will adversely affect the way the bike handles.

Most likely your hybrid is designed for a shorter travel 63mm suspension fork. Installing a fork with longer travel will affect the way the bike handles.
