SRAM's Force 1 Rear Derailleur takes the latest technology for the
SRAM 1x mountain line and makes it compatible with
SRAM road groups.
SRAM Force 1 Rear Derailleurs feature an updated
Type 3.0 roller clutch to minimize chain slack and reduce dropped chains over rough, uneven gravel roads.
SRAM Force 1 Rear Derailleurs come in 3 cage lengths depending on the gearing needs of your bike and can handle cassettes up to 42t in the long cage version.
SRAM does offer a
gearing guide to help you determine what gearing will work best for your style of riding. The cage length will determine what size cassette you can run and the max cassette sizes are as follows
- Short Cage: 28t
- Medium Cage: 36t
- Long Cage: 42t
The unique shape of the
SRAM Force 1''s body along with the
Type 3.0 clutch make it compatible with
1x drivetrains only.
SRAM designs the
Force 1 Rear Derailleur to work with an
Exact Actuation shifters (SRAM Road 10/11-speed and SRAM 10-speed Mountain) allowing you to run
1x10 or
1x11-speed setups. The
SRAM Force 1 Rear Derailleur is not compatible with SRAM 11/12-speed mountain 1x shifters that use the X-Actuation cable pull.
- Updated Type 3.0 clutch

Will this SRAM Force 1 Type 3 derailleur work with SRAM Force 22 mechanical brake/shifter?
A.
anwered by: canteau
Yes, the SRAM Force 1 derailleur will work with both Force 11-speed (22) and even older 10-speed shifters. In both cases you will also need a 1x chainring or crank set as this derailleur does not work with a 2x front crank.

Hi - what SRAM MTB, 10 speed, handlebar shifters would be available for this rear derailleur?
A.
anwered by: canteau
Any of the SRAM 10-speed mountain shifters will work (XX, X0,X9, X7...) however it will only work with 10-speed cassettes when using a 10-speed shifter. SRAM does make a SL700 flat bar shifter, if you want to use this derailleur with an 11-speed cassette and flat bar.
