SRAM PG-1170 wide range cassette is designed to be used in conjunction with SRAM Force1 or Rival1 rear derailleurs for 1x11 drivetrains. PG-1170 cassettes feature high grade heat treated steel cogs that are mounted to a lightweight aluminum carrier to save weight. SRAM 11-speed road cassettes require an 11-speed freehub body, which is wider than the 9/10-speed freehub. Included with the PG-1170 cassette is an aluminum lockring.

asked by: gab...@....com Is this cassette compatible with a Force 22 rear derailleur? Currently have Force 22 components, but looking to possibly switch to Force 1 crank, this cassette, and keep Force 22 rear derailleur.
A.
anwered by: canteau It depends on which Force 22 derailleur you have as the compatibility is different based on the cage length of the derailleur.
For 1x applications, you will need a SRAM Force rear derailleur with a clutch.

asked by: a guest The specs mention that this cassette will work with shimano 11 speed road hub but will it fit a shimano MTB 8/9/10/11 Hub like the shimano cs-hg700/cs-hg800 11-34 11 speed cassette?
A.
anwered by: canteau The SRAM PG-1170 requires the wider Shimano 11-speed road HG freehub body and will not work with shorter 9/10-speed HG freehub bodies as the Shimano 11-speed mountain cassettes do.

asked by: 81Hoagie Hoping to confirm that it is for use with the sram XD free hub body, is that correct?
A.
anwered by: canteau Unfortunately, it is not. The SRAM PG-1170 is designed to fit Shimano/SRAM 11-speed road freehub bodies. The SRAM XD compatible cassettes are listed with "XG" before the part number like XD-1170.

asked by: a guest What Shimano road rear derailleur will work with this cassette.
A.
anwered by: canteau Unfortunately the current group of Shimano 11-speed rear derailleurs in mid cage form have a max tooth count of 32t (Ultegra 6800, 105 5800) or 30t (Dura Ace 9100).
You would need to move to a SRAM Road WiFli setup for this extended range.
