The chainrings on the Rival crank are designed for the thinner chains a 10-speed rear cassette uses.
A crank that is designed for 8-speed cassettes will work with the 6-speed chain as they are both 3/32"

SRAM Rival cranks are designed for 10-speed drivetrains but should work with newer Sora groups.
The 10-speed chainrings are slightly narrower than 9-speed chainrings so you may get a little more noise.

I have been a Shimano girl for a long time and upgraded my sram crank from apex to rival with this purchase. I highly recommend this upgrade. It feels way better shifting and doesn't hurt the pocket book. Shipped at a reasonable time and I got a good deal
