jakal14This is a sweet crankset. It's about time we had a real offering of a 2x mountain crankset. I'd been cobbling together 2x8 and 2x9 setups for years, and I'm excited about the new x.9 2x10 system. This crankset looks great and is pretty light compared to other cranksets. Installation was smooth.
I have only two issues with this crank:
1. the finish scratches easily. In setting up the front derailleur (see issued #2 below), I dropped the chain off the big ring. This chain drop scratched the matte black finish off in a couple of spots. Not a big deal, but a little frustrating with a brand new crankset.
2. I had figured that I could get by without the matching SRAM 2x10 front derailleur. I'm using the new x.9 2x10 shifters, but after trying four different 3x front derailleurs of different vintage, I finally concluded that I needed to suck it up and buy the 2x10 SRAM front derailleur. Don't have it yet, but hoping that it will deliver the silky-smooth front shifts that the SRAM propaganda promises.
