If you have 9-speed SRAM X9 shifters, they will be compatible with this SRAM X9 rear derailleur. If you are using a 3x9 drivetrain with a cassette of 32t or larger you will want to use the long cage size.

SRAM makes both 1:1 and 1:2 pull ratio shifters. Older SRAM shifters that are marked with ESP are compatible with this derailleur.
SRAM Grip Shift X-Ray, MRX or anything paired with a Shimano rear derailleur are not compatible with this derailleur and you will need to use a Shimano 9-speed derailleur.

I ordered this as a replacement for my long X.9 that got trashed due to a very tough stick. The medium size has worked well so far. This was the best price I could find, part arrived in about a week just as described.

My previous rear derailleur that came with my bike was an X9 with X7 shifters and when it got broken from a stick that got stuck in my spokes I decided to upgrade to an X0 rear derailleur and set of X9 shifters. Awesome shifting, very crisp. Once it's perfectly tuned it stays tuned for a long time. I have friends with Shimano XT's and when it gets muddy their derailleur does not work properly anymore.

Picked up the short cage version. Extremely precise, chain tension is good. Not too noisy, but very precise gear changes. Very easy setup. Really nice cable routing.

I am a big fan of SRAM components. All of our bikes have SRAM components on them. They hold up well and require very little maintenance. My Son put 1800 miles on his mountain bike last year and never had a single issue with his X9 derailleur. That kind of performance and quality out of an inexpensive derailleur is hard to beat.

This is a great product. In my opinion, SRAM rear derailleurs are the only way to go. The actuation ratio really is maintenance-free... virtually never requiring tuning. I am on my 3rd X.9 rear because I keep finding sticks to wrap through my drivetrain. I keep choosing the X.9 because it performs great and is a good value. I do wish, however, that SRAM sold a replacement cage for this derailleur because that's the part that keeps getting damaged... the rest of the works are fine. I have used many other derailleurs and highly recommend this product.

The X.9 Rear Derailleur is smooth and efficient. The only problem I have is that the cage is not replaceable. But then again, for Tree Fort's price, I cannot complain.
