The 2x spider has a slightly different offset than the 3x version for a better 2x chain-line.
Could you stick a 3rd chainring on this spider? Yes, but it would not work as good, if at all when compared to the actual 3x spider.

The X9 spider will fit the Force crank arm, however, because the Force cranks use a narrower spindle the chainline might be a bit weird.
