To make the most of your new bike right away, be sure to select a pair of pedals when checking out and we will include them with the build!The Salsa Vaya is Salsa's "All Road" bike, which means the Vaya isn''t limited to just the bike lane on the way to work. Vaya''s ample tire clearance (26x1.9 on 50/52 and 700x42c on 54 ) let you tackle country roads, 2 tracks and other areas traditional road bikes wouldn''t dare to go.

Salsa''s "Explore" geometry is designed to give the rider a slightly more upright position for the long haul comfort of a traditional touring bike, but with a shorter wheelbase so that the bike handles more like a ''cross bike making those short trips as fun as an all weekend adventure.

The Vaya has custom made drop-outs that put the rear disc brake inboard to move the caliper out of the way when installing racks or fenders on the double braze-ons. The flatter overall design allows the rack legs to fit flatter on the bike creating a more secure fit.

Size optimized tubing on both the steel and titanium versions ensure that no matter what height you are the bike will perform as the engineers intended. To increase stand-over and better balance with a loaded bike smaller sizes (50/52cm) use 26" wheels in place of the 700c wheels found on the larger bikes.

The Vaya has a custom made steel fork that features Salsa''s Kung Fu Cromo legs and crown with stainless steel forward facing dropouts to make wheel install/removal with fenders quick and painless. The mid-blade braze-ons are threaded on both sides so that the will work with front racks such as Salsa''s Down Under rack.

Vaya Ti''s 3/2.5 titanium seamless tubeset not only drops about a pound when compared to the steel version, it is also made in the US. The industrial mill finish along with etched graphics keep the Vaya Ti looking even after years of life on the open road.

 There are a few things to keep in mind when building an Vaya Ti that may be different from other bikes that you may have built in the past.

• The Head Tube on the Vaya Ti is 34mm, and uses a standard 1-1/8" headset such as a Chris King No Threadset or Cane Creek 40 Series.
• Titanium frames cold weld them selves to aluminum. Use a product such as Finishline Ti Prep anywhere these materials meet.
• Smaller bikes (50/52) use 26" wheels and the larger bikes (54 ) use 700c
• The rear brake uses full length housing, if buying a cable and housing kit make sure to get the XL version to use one kit on the bike. Standard kits may require 2 sets to get enough housing.
