sboxhead21This is simply a incredible frame, although there is two issues that really irritated me:
The fork isn't corrosion resistant stainless or carbon, but simply the lower end anchor of a steel fork that comes on the other budget Vayas. A better fork should come with this frame stock, especially when the frame isn't titanium and yet over $2000!
The alternator dropout on the rear is awesome besides one flaw, which is my biggest gripe. The Vaya Travel should have dedicated rack mounts still present, and not leave us stuck using the junky and overpriced Alternator rack instead of a higher end Tubus (or similar) rack. This is your flagship touring bike, remember? Please revise the dropouts to at least accommodate standard racks without tweaks or special hardware Salsa!!! Your Alternator rack really is a bad design with those spacers on the lower mounts. One bolt holding the frame, brake mount, alt dropout, and rack together with a thick spacer is just ridiculous. The position of the brake caliper further complicates things by not allowing most QR racks.
