asked by: a guest I bought the Shimano WHRS500 Road wheel set and have an eight speed bike. Would this cassette fit these rims? Any advice is welcome
A.
anwered by: jackivey Mountain and road cassettes have the same interface with the hub. The only issue may be derailleur capacity. Just count the teeth on the smallest and largest cogs on your current cassette and order the same one.

Is this cassette compatible with my Shimano Altus M310 7/8 speed Long Cage Rear Derailleur?
Thanks,

A.
anwered by: jackivey It seems the max cog size for that derailleur is 42. So this should work fine.

asked by: Professorbikerider Can the Shimano HG41 8 Speed Cassette fit a Road Bike Wheel?
A.
anwered by: canteau Mountain and road bikes use the same cassette to hub interface, so the Shimano HG-41 cassette will fit on a wheel that has a Shimano compatible hub.
The bigger issue will be the capacity of the rear derailleur. Road rear derailleurs are commonly designed to work with cassettes up to 28t. Some of the newer road rear derailleurs do offer a climbing version option that increases the capacity to 36t or more.
You will want to make sure that you get a cassette that is designed to work within the limits of your derailleur.
