thackI bought this excellent Shimano BB after struggling to find replacement cup bearings for the FSA MegaExo BB I use with my *24mm* spindle FSA Gossamer crank. FSA prefers to sell you a whole new BB when their crappy bearings fail and Phil Wood doesn't sell a 24mm ID replacement bearing from what I could find...And my experience w/Enduro bearings has not been good, so that was not an option.
After lots of frustrating research, a rando tip on a bike forum led me to Shimano's BBR60 as a potential drop-in replacement. No surprise, it was a perfect fit, is better made, lighter, cheaper and WAY more durable than the FSA BB it replaces. Note it comes in 2 sizes: 70mm and 68mm (24 x 1.37T: the one I needed), so check your frame carefully.
Another pro tip: most (all?) other thread-on, external-bearing FSA cranks (e.g., SL-K) use the beefier 25mm spindles. This Shimano SM-BBR60 will not work for those applications, but Phil Wood does sell nice drop-in replacement bearings if you wanna keep you 25mm cups, shims, etc.
Hopefully this tip will save others time and frustration!
