The front Sun Race Thumb Shifter is friction, the optional rear shifter is indexed.

It looks like this is the only Sun Race M96 front shifter we carry and is the same one that Sun Race lists on their website, maybe some other sites are shortening Sun Race to SR?

You will also see these referred to as SLM96, SL stands for Shift Lever.

When i ordered this shifters loved the look but wasn't expecting them to be too sturdy. when i got them i was pleasantly surprised how sturdy and how good they looked. at first i had some problems with the friction not staying in place, but after figuring out how to adjust the tension, which is nicely placed on the top of the shifter, these work great. i would recommend these to anyone looking for a top mounted shifter, especially those on a budget. not cheaply made though, they work great.

This is a reliable lever for my two front chain wheels. The clamp is secure without scratching the handlebar finish. I would have preferred a stainless cable.
