Surly track cogs are designed to spin onto standard ISO-threaded (1.375" x 24tpi) hubs, so they will work with most English, Italian and Japanese hubs, including the Surly New track hubs. The thread base is 7.4mm wide for maximum thread engagement while maintaining enough room for a track lockring to thread on. Like our cassette-splined cogs, these are made from machined, heat-treated and chrome plated SCM415 CroMoly steel, so they are tough and long lasting. Track cogs are available in either 3/32" or 1/8" tooth thicknesses and in every size from 13-22t.

matthewberardiThough there are no 17t DAs. The low end EAI are available in 17 and much, much better.

anonymousNot bad for the price. It could be more round, but it’s not an issue.

spotmaticfThis is my first Surly Cog and after about 300 miles I am still pleased. It is important to note that this Surly 17T cog gives a tighter chainline than both my Dura-Ace and Suntour track cogs. In my case this is good because my bottom bracket was a tad narrower than ideal for DA. I would have bought a DA, but Shimano does not offer any cogs over 16T. On the downside, the surface finish on Surly Track Cogs is not jewel-like and the printing looks cheap. Of course neither is critical to function.

A GuestFirst thing I noticed was that the cog binds on new chain. (I tried two; wipperman and a kmc). As though it's meant for slightly stretched chain. After breaking it in for a few weeks, it's okay. (Still binds a little, occasionally under reverse load)
But what's much worse, is that it is noticeably out-of-round, enough so that I'm going to replace it when I get around to it. I have some no-name chinese 16t that is much rounder.
I do not recommend.
