mondorescueThese brake shoes are softer than the Avid 20R that I normally use. Because they are softer, I think it attributes to its rather low durability. I had to replace these a bit sooner than the Avid 20R, but if you don't travel down a lot of steep down hills like I do in the Rocky Mountains and brake hard, then they should last long enough to justify for its discounted price. Otherwise, I'd go for the Avid 20R, which are priced about the same as the non-discounted Tektros. I do like how these Tektros are a bit softer than the Avid 20R. Softer shoes allow the braking to be a bit smoother and less abrupt when braking hard. With the Avid 20R, I can easily lift my rear wheel when braking hard on the front. You won't have that happening with these Tektro brake shoes. In addition, these Tektros seem to squeak a lot when the rims are wet (or riding in the rain). I've tried adjusting the angle of the shoes, but that didn't help. Sometimes installing brake shoes at an angle can help cut down the squeaking noise. Never had this issue with the Avid 20R
