The Tektro cross top levers are a strong, minimal lever with some snap-back for your Cyclocross bike. They install without requiring any rewrap of the bar through the use of an innovative hinged clamping system. They also have a built-in return spring to give them some snap back and reduce the reliance on the brakes to return the cable through the housing. Not only are they ergonomically shaped and minimal they have a reach adjust screw to help you bring them just perfectly close to the bar.

I don't own these yet but I'm buying them because I have seen these levers used as the only levers (complete replace). Google image search "tektro rl720 chrishoodphoto" and the first image will be an example. You need to use "road" brake cables instead of mountain. The only difference is the lead ball on the end. The road version will sit into the lever better, the mountain version will look terrible.

Great levers. Used with Jagwire cables on my winter bike. Totally satisfied.

Made these the primary levers on my bullhorn bars, and they work great! Cable routing was a little tricky, since the bend in the housing tended to fight the lever's return spring and pull it open, but other than that there were no problems with the installation. Right now they're set up with Tektro Oryx cantis, and the overall brake feel is solid.
Also, Tree Fort is awesome!

I am using these on the ends of my bull-horn bars to allow me to use bar-end shifters. They work great for this purpose. I can have the brakes and shifters on the "horns" , while the cables housings are under the bar wrap for a clean look. The adjustable reach made it easy to reach the breaks even with the curve of the bar.
