You're looking at Thomson''s best seatpost ever created.
The Masterpiece seatpost is machined from a solid block of aluminum, so aside for looking gorgeous, the strength-to-weight ratio is unmatched by any other seatpost on the market. The clamp, head and upper tube are a singular unit, not pieces bonded or pressed in; this upper post can withstand 325 pounds of torque. The long seat rail adds to the upper strength, with 1.614 inches of grip length keeping firm hold on the saddle. The Masterpiece maintains such strength in concert with light weight: Masterpiece seat posts weigh 40 grams less than an Elite post of the same size, which is achieved by all-over machining and the oval design of the inner post diameter. This is Thomson''s ultimate seat post.
Sizing note: The 27.2mm diameter post is available in 240mm and 330mm length options. The 30.9mm and 31.6mm diameter posts are only available in a 350mm length.
- Seatpost Diameters - 27.2mm, 30.9mm, 31.6mm
- Seatpost Lengths - 240mm, 330mm, 350mm
- Offset - 16mm
- Seatpost Type - Rigid
- Material - 7000 Series Aluminum
- Weight - 199 grams

A GuestAfter using a Thomson Elite on my Eriksen road frame for a while, I decided to see if the Masterpiece provided an even smoother ride. It does ride noticeably smoother, but there isn't a dramatic "night and day" difference. If you're happy with ride on an Elite then the big advantage to this post will the weight savings.
Couple of notes: Thomson says that there's a weight limit on this post (200 lbs), and go on to say that this post is intended just for road, cyclocross, and cross country mtb. See their website, including the FAQ's for this post, for more info.

noa...@gm...l.comI have used the masterpiece on my spider29 and now on my Tallboy Carbon. It's light and has the best mount in the biz. I used titanium hardware to lighten it up a bit more. You could go super lightweight carbon and save 40 grams, but you'd be dealing with inferior seat rail mounts and concerns about failure.
As the reviewer above states, you can keep this for a lifetime.

flynbryan19Great seatpost. Looks and works great and very good quality. If I had to complain about anything.... it "could" be cheaper.

A GuestThe Masterpiece seatpost lives up to all the hype. Beautiful, excellent design, easy to set up and adjust. Paying the extra money for the Masterpiece was well worth it. This seatpost will last longer than your bike. You might as well purchase the best.

A Guest Just as light as a carbon fiber post, but less expensive and less prone to sudden catastrophic failure. I run Masterpiece seat posts on all my carbon bikes and I don't need to use graphite paste to avoid post slippage. Clamp mechanism is well marked for making small, but defined, changes to seat angle and it never slips. You buy this post for life.
