This item is awesome! I used it to hold an On Guard Pitbull LS U-Lock, and it worked securely and perfecly. It also seems very sturdy. The straps are looped around each other, so the lock should stay put even if the rubber degrades and breaks. It also seemd to me that these could be used to hold a small flashlight (which is probably cheaper than getting a bike light of sufficient brightness to see by).
