I replaced some cheap plastic platforms that came off a Specialized Hardrock. To my surprise these were lighter then the plastic ones. The reason I replaced the plastic ones was to gain grip, but when I took the plastic ones off I realized that one of them had several breaks and cracks so an upgrade was over due. I can't compare them to much, but I can say they work well with larger feet (size 13), they are smooth, and the grip is sufficient.
Summed up: Great platforms that work well with larger feet without breaking the bank.
Yes, I would recomend this to a friend.

Great value for a light pedal. Wish they had an extra grip cleat on the spindle. Not all shoes are flat, so you don't always hook-up to the edge cleats.
