Liven up your wheel build with Wheel Smith anodized alloy nipples.
Wheel Smith nipples are thread 8mm which is around 2mm longer than other nipples available. The benifits of this longer threading are;
- The extra threading is at the start of the nipple where the wrench flats are which adds strength to help prevent the nipple head from colapsing when a wrench is applied to it.
- The spokes start threading sooner in the nipple to there is more slack in the spoke available during lacing which makes it easier to get the wheel laced up
- More threads give you a little more flexability when spoke sizes are close, but always check your spoke calculator for exact measurements.
One thing that can slow replacing a spoke down is trying to figure out which nipple goes with what spoke. Wheel Smith has you covered, if the slot is blank it is a 14ga (2.0) nipple, but if there are radial lines stamped into the slot you have a 15ga (1.8) nipple.
Alloy nipples weigh around 11g for 32, but your mileage may vary.
