andrewlukeGreat cable set. I purchased this on the recommendation of a friend who had a set on her SRAM Red bike after I was having issues with shift feel and response on my Ultegra 6700 bike. Unfortunately, I wrecked the bike last Sunday with only 300 miles on the cables (after around 900 pissed off miles on the Ultegra cables) but I will say that over the factory cables there was an immediate and noticeable change in shift quality and response.
The under-the-tape routing of the 6700 group has issues with bends on compact bars with tighter corners. I'm large at 6'2" with broad shoulders but prefer a very small bar - normally 38-40cm wide. My factory cables were lagging behind my shifts and often, they were very sloppy and sluggish - even going so far as to skip back and forth between cogs in the worst cases. These cables fixed that. Shifts were near immediate - almost before I even threw the lever. The feel was a night and day difference as well with the shifts so fast and smooth, I often thought they missed but they never did.
The only downsides were that I felt no improvement in braking, neither with the original Tektro set that came on my CAAD9 nor with the Ultegra set. The brake housing is also very heavy so if weight is an issue, keep it in mind.
--- SHIMANO BRAKE COMPATIBILITY ISSUES ---
These cables do not work by default with the Ultegra 6700 or Dura-Ace 7900 brake calipers. These brakes do not utilize a ferule on the caliper end and the cable is too large to fit into the caliper hole. The included ferules are too large but I fixed this with a file to thin the ferule end but you need some mechanical ability to do this as to not remove too much material. The ferules are solid steel on the bottom half so no strength was compromised. Just a heads up that you may want to think of keeping the factory cable housing and just buy the shift cable set. This is why it gets 4 stars.

skyguy94I installed these on a Sram Force w/Red brifters frankengroup. They're quite a bit stiffer and harder to cut than the Jagwire ones. I also had trouble getting a ferrule into the brake slot on the red brifters. I shoved it in there, but a little sanding or just leaving the ferrule off might be worthwhile. The problem with leaving the ferrule off is that the metal wires may dig into the housing of the brifter body over time. Then again, forcing the ferrule into the housing may stress the housing also.

A GuestThis is a great set of cables. Easy enough to install (though cutting the brake cable housing can be a bit tough). Once in, everything was smooth as could be. Tight shifting, no hassles. Made my bike feel better than new.

BarryPattersonInstalled the cable set myself, took less than an hour to strip the old and install the new. The bike shifts like new! The compressionless housing really makes a difference with gear changes happening very quickly and smoothly. Braking is also much 'tighter' than with the previous Shimano cable set. Be sure to have a good pair of cable/housing cutters before tackling this job. I used a set of Park cable cutters without any issues. No issues getting the housing to conform to the bars under the tape either.

transformdGreat set of cables and housing. First set i personally have installed on my bike but not too difficult as good instructions are provided. No trouble with shorter bends as some have suggested. Love the appearance of the see through shifter cable. One recommendation: use the ParkTool (or similar quality) cable cutters. Requires quality. Noticed the smooth shifting immediately. Highly recommend these.

srbranchThese are the best cables I have ever used they make the shifting like butter. Braking is crisp and solid with no play. Should have bought along time ago. I have tried them all. You get major bang for your buck...
The company is awesome . They have a new customer for life.

stray4545These cables in many ways remind me of a Brooks saddle. They are not super light, and don't really look all that great on modern bikes. But what they don't have in contemporary style and weight it makes up for in class, durability, and performance. These cables cause crisp shifting and firm braking. They will last forever. They are difficult to cut, and are hard to make tight bends because they are so firm. Though installation is difficult, they are great once installed. The firmness of the housing makes it impossible to make tight bends that causes the cables to drag. Highly reccomend for anyone who likes performance along with durability. Reccomended over Jagwire Ripcord or Hyper cables, and Shimano XTR or durace cable sets.

A GuestI bought these from another site. What I'd like to note is that if you're using v brakes with road levers these brake housings will not fit. They are way too thick to fit in the noodle.
I haven't really noticed any superior qualities to them. Maybe that's just me though. From now on I'll just go with the regular yokozuna or shimano cables.

A GuestI bought three of these for my two bikes and my wifes after installing and testing on one of my bikes I could really tell the difference so I did my wifes next and she is very pleased said the bike has never shifted better naturally I took all the credit.

A GuestI had an easy time getting the system setup. Really stiff out of the package, and it remains stiff the entire time.
I personally don't care for how it looks, kind of ugly if you ask me. But I've yet to see any that wasn't. This is all about performance. Stiff, smooth action that will leave you smiling the entire ride.
No complaints from this rider!

A GuestI have SRAM FORCE Installed on my bike and the cables are the weakest link. Since I've installed these cables I haven't experienced any derailleur problems and the shifting has been crisp and precise.

jurban22Improved response time and quicker shifts. Brake housing is a bit more stiff than other housing. Requires some patience when bending around the handlebars. Brake housing may also be too thick for some internal cabling setups (2010 Cervelo S1). Otherwise a great product; I will definitely use these cables again when the time comes.

A GuestTwo experienced bike mechanics couldn't get this cable set to work when it came to the rear brake. Apparently the housing is so stiff that it levered my Campy Record brake into the rim, regardless of how much housing they trimmed. A disappointing waste of money and a surprising incompatibility given that they market these for Campy-equipped bikes.

bhardyI got this cable set because I had a bike with no cable stops for the rear brake line (1984 Trek 620) and, since I needed to run a lot of housing to the rear brake, I wanted the housing with the least amount of compression.
This set feels great. Zero compression. The brakes feel the same front and rear even though there is about 2 to 3 feet more housing for the rear. The shifting is incredibly crisp and accurate. It's the best cable and housing set I've ever used. I couldn't believe how much difference this made.
The only thing I don't love about this set is the price, but it's worth it for how great my brakes feel.

A GuestMy old cables were two years old but they were still working fine. The Yokozuna cables are sooo much smoother.
I also did not find them any harder to cut than normal cables with my park tool cable cutter. The brake cables are stiff but not annoyingly so.

djandersonmdGreat product. Very smooth shifting and braking.

ron...@gm...l.comExcellent cables!. I use them with 2010 Sram Force group. Shifts are clean and fast. Provides a lighter action feel at the levers. Excellent braking with compressionless cables.

jwibleGreat cables. Very Very smooth compared to the stock SRAM cables that my Rival shifters came with. These are very hard to cut and the outer casing does melt when you use a cutoff wheel. I ended up using long lineman's pliers for the job.
I'd recommend these to anyone wanting super smooth actuation and excellent braking.

A GuestIf you have red these are a must. Smooth and crisp!

bik...@gm...l.comThis is the first set of housings I installed myself (well, second - I put Jagwire brake cables on my fixie). The brake housings are noticeably harder to cut than Jagwire, but the Park cable cutter did a clean job of it. Brake housings are stiff, but do hold form after taping to handlebars. No issues at all with shift housings or any of the cables. Brakes noticeably firmer; shifting is crisper (but I replaced 25,000k-old housings (shame on me, I know)). Not positive I'd buy again over less expensive Jagwire - I'm not that good a rider :-)

A GuestPurchased as a result of all the positive reviews (cf. Competitive Cyclist's rave review!). I was shocked when after 400 miles i stood up to hammer and shifted onto the large chain ring and something popped. Had to stay in that chain ring the whole way home. Took it to LBS and mechanic showed me, to my surprise, the culprit was in the design! No metal piece inside the housing - only plastic and it pushed through rendering it useless! Mechanic replaced housing; no problem. Great cables and housing? The best? They do look great; they do shift smoothly - but clearly they need some improvement.

A GuestI had these cables installed with my DA 7900 and they work fantastic!! Previous comment on the brake caliper and the brake cable not compatible is not true. My brake calipers work great and I had no problems at all. I have over 1,200 miles with these cables and I would get them again! They are worth it!
