Cambium, in botany, is a tissue layer that provides cells for plant growth. Brooks Cambium is a range of vegan saddles made from vulcanized natural rubber and organic cotton enhanced by a thin layer of structural textile for added resilience and legendary Brooks longevity. The uniquely flexible, maintenance-free, waterproof top is designed to follow the rider's movements for immediate comfort and ease of use. To the eye, the C17 may appear quite racy in its shape and lines, which indeed it is. A saddle you can really settle into, the geometry and dimensions are based closely on that of Brooks'' most recognizable model, the B17, ensuring the same timeless comfort mile after mile.
The C17s is slightly shorter than the C17 and more suited to female riders.

A GuestSwitched from a B17.
B17 Pro:
-Most comfortable saddle I've ever ridden. ---No pain even in extended rides, even without chamois.
B17 Con:
-Heavy
-Hard to get behind when descending offroad
-Not waterproof for commuting
Cambium Pro:
-Narrower overall for easier use off road
-Waterproof
-Textured for better grip
-Lighter
Cambium Con:
-Not only narrower overall, but also sloped heavily at the edges, leaving much less width for wider sit bones
-Because of the slope of the sides vs. the flat B17, the center of the saddle sits higher into your taint and puts pressure that is non-existent on the B17
Many reviews claim as comfortable as the traditional Brooks saddles. I would dispute this, especially if you have wide sit bone spacing. The fact remains that the B17 functions more like a hammock. This functions more like a standard plastic saddle with a hard shell, just of a different material.

A GuestAmazing saddle! The rubber has held up to several months of abuse (on the fatbike and commuter). It flexes with movement, but doesn't remain stretched out when you get off of it. The nose is a little hard, but it makes for a nicer sprint. The only thing I'm concerned about is the minute amount of wear that I'm seeing on the cotton canvas top. It's not much, but time will tell.

rrnoeThank you David Bere of Kalamazoo, MI for informing me about the Brooks C17 saddle. It is just outstanding... You have to try it. This review may be short but it is to the point.

ccriderAs soon as I got it I removed the screws and put blue lock tight on the threads . I have read that there is a problem with screws coming loose. I find that the saddle was very comfortable right out of the box after lock tightening.

A GuestWith more weight on my rear and arms than I should (need to add in core work), I couldn't get comfortable in the saddle.
While this isn't 'comfortable' compared to a chair, I no longer have bruising on my sit bones. I'll buy a C17 again!

A GuestComfortable right out of the box. I broke it in during a 100 mile gravel race, and it was exceptional. It feels as though it can accommodate a wide range of sit bone shapes and sizes. I would highly recommend this saddle.

A GuestBest non leather saddle I've ever ridden. Comfortable when in street clothes and almost completely disappears under bike shorts. Great saddle for commuting and muddy trails. Out of the box I found it more comfortable than a leather brooks saddle but it's not as comfortable as a properly broken in leather saddle. It's a great edition to the brooks saddle line and the perfect saddle for someone that doesn't want to deal with the upkeep of a leather saddle or has moral issues with the use of leather. Yes I would recommend this saddle and yes I would buy it again because I already have.

bksaundersThis is my second C17 - first one for the commuter, this new one for the knockarounder - and it's fabulous. Very comfortable for me, light enough, no break-in period, and (most importantly, here in Seattle) waterproof.
Nota Bene: the Natural version is susceptible to stains, particularly from denim. Personally, I think it looks pretty cool.

non...@ms...n.comI was a little hesitant buying a non-leather saddle - I have 4 other Brooks saddles I wouldn't trade and since they have been in the saddle business for so long they must know a thing or two. To my surprise - This is the best saddle I have ever used.

A GuestI just went on by first ride with the new Brooks Cambium. It was as comfortable as my old Brooks saddle after 10000 miles right out of the box! This thing is AWESOME!! I will never ever buy another Brooks leather saddle. The Cambium is definitely the way to go!

easyupThey have a real winner here, comfort from mile one. Only issue was one of the rivets which are actually screws fell out in the first 50 miles and the others were loose. Tree Fort is replacing the saddle for me and the on line community is not having problems with this so it may have been a saddle that got past the final tightening stage.
I bought a second C17 and it had nice tight screws. It has about 300 miles on it now and I like it a lot, maybe not as good as my well broken in B17 but very very close. Being water proof is a big plus as I have seen a B17 that got caught in a freak down pour and the saddle stretched badly.

guinsdanLike any seat it is all personal preference. I like this seat but start to get fatigued after an hour or so. It is an improvement over the WTB I previously rode, but not as good as the Brooks B17 leather with regards to comfort.
I feel that the construction is good, and the quality seems to be there. It may be more durable than other seats but I would opt for more comfort and a shorter life-cycle.
Note that this is mostly gravel riding, and a little road. I will most likely replace this seat, especially for rides over one hour.
